Dr. Paramita Basu is an associate professor of biomedical sciences who teaches PharmD and MD students as well as nursing students. She is also an infectious disease researcher with a passion for public health and community medicine, as well as experience in biotech/pharmaceutical test design and development. Dr. Basu is the Chair of the Curriculum Committee in addition to being an Associate Professor in the PBS department. She is engaged in curricular and assessment-related research in the pedagogical field. Dr. Basu earned her MS and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from St. John’s University in New York, respectively, in 2003 and 2008. In 2011, she received an internal grant from the Touro College Faculty Research Fund. She is currently studying on mechanisms of bacterial stress resistance and antibiotic resistance. Dr. Basu has authored one book and published seven research articles, and 5 book chapters.
